Welcome to Patriot * Air

WHAT IS PATRIOT*AIR?

Patriot*Air is the wireless network at The University of Texas at Tyler.  The wireless network uses 802.1b/g to allow the members of the UT Tyler community to connect to the UT Tyler network using wireless devices.  Patriot*Air will be available in various buildings and outdoor areas around the UT Tyler campus.

WHERE IS PATRIOT*AIR AVAILABLE ON THE UT TYLER CAMPUS?

Patriot*Air is available in the Business Building, the University Center, the Administration Building, the Library, the Herrington Patriot Center, the Met Dining Area, the HPR (Hudnall-Pirtle-Roosth Building), the SCI (Sciences Building), the RBS (Ratliff Building South) and the BRB (Braithwaite Building-Nursing).

HOW DO I CONNECT TO PATRIOT*AIR?

Turn on your wireless device.  Select the Patriot*Air wireless network as your preferred wireless network.  Open your web browser and you will be redirected to the Patriot*Air Log In page.
NOTE: Upon redirection you will be presented with a Security Alert. Click View Certificate. The Certificate dialoge box will display. Click Install Certificate. The Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard will display. Click Next. Click Next again. Click Finish. A Security Warning will display. Click Yes to install the certificate. Click Ok. Click Ok. Click Yes. You will be prompted to carry out these instruction twice for each device that you use to access Patriot*Air. Once these steps are complete on your device, you should not be prompted again by the Security Alert.
Read the caution, the warning, and the Log In instructions.  If you have any questions or comments, there is contact information at the bottom of this web page and at the bottom of the Patriot*Air Log In page.

(It could take as much as 3 to 5 minutes for the process to complete.  If a security warning appears, click “Yes”.)

IS PATRIOT*AIR SECURE?

Patriot*Air campus wireless network transmissions are currently unencrypted and unprotected.  Personal or sensitive information could become compromised if you use this network connection.  USE THIS WIRELESS CONNECTION AT YOUR OWN RISK.  (This is the same amount of security you would normally have at a hotel, airport, or coffee shop.)  Additional security features to allow secure encrypted transmissions are being added and will be available soon.

WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE USE OF PATRIOT*AIR?

Usage may be subject to Security Testing and Monitoring. Abuse is subject to criminal prosecution. Your use of this system indicates that you have read and agree to all aspects of the U.T. Tyler Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy or the U.T. Tyler Student Acceptable Use Policy.

WHO MAY CONNECT TO PATRIOT*AIR?

Patriot*Air is for the exclusive use of The University of Texas at Tyler member community.  This community is composed of students, faculty, staff, and official guests of the University. 

HOW DO I LOG IN TO PATRIOT*AIR?

Your Username should be in the following format: first initial and last name

Your Password should be in the following format: YYYYMMDD

 

EXAMPLE Name - John Doe Birthdate - January 17, 1986

Username - jdoe Password - 19860117

 

***ATTENTION*** Due to duplicate Usernames some accounts may have a number after the Username similar to what you might see on Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc.
